Does my friend need to use the MailTime app to chat with me?

No. As long as your friend has an email address, you can use MailTime to chat. MailTime is a messenger app that leverages email standards for its platform. Whatever email client or software your friends are using, they can still send messages to you via your email address. However, if they want to enjoy the sleek bubble text user experience, they will also need to use the MailTime app. MailTime syncs all your desktop emails, and presents them in a mobile-friendly messaging style.

What does it look like to someone who doesn't have the app?

No change. To non-MailTime users, messages appear as normal emails. If you'd like to view the original email within MailTime, simply tap on the chat bubbles.

How to login with a 2 Step Verification for my account?

Where is my sent folder?

MailTime displays emails in a conversation view so sent and received emails will be merged into the same view by subjects. We believe that this is a more mobile friendly way for users to read and communicate.

How to view email in original view?

Tap on the email bubble to go back to the original view.

How do I change my signature?

You can go to Settings to change your signature, though we recommend you to keep the default signature so that more people will know about how amazing MailTime is! Go to Settings - Accounts - Signature to edit.

Why can't I recieve notifications?

It happens when your account was not correctly connected to our service when you first logs in. If it keeps happening, please email us at support@mailtime.com. We'd love to help.

Can I change my passwords?

Currently, we don't support this feature in the app. Please go to your email provider's website to reset your password.

How many accounts can I add on MailTime?

Theoretically, you can add as many as you like. To add multiple accounts, click "Add Account" from the Main Menu.

For the free MailTime version, the first two accounts are free by default. If you want to add a third account, you can either choose to invite three friends to MailTime to unlock one additional account for free, or pay to add one without inviting friends. Your friends will receive an email from you inviting them to join MailTime. When any of them accepts, you can add an additional account. In the future, if you change to another device or accidentally delete the app, you can always restore the purchase (the account quota) by logging in with any email account you previously used with MailTime.

If you are using the MailTime Pro version, you can add as many accounts as you wish at no extra charge.

How does MailTime sort my inbox?

Mailtime sorts your Inbox into 3 lists now: All Emails, Chats and Contact List. The Chats tab learns from your email behavior and intelligently lists only email from important contacts, like people you've replied to or others who have been in your email threads. The “All Emails” tab includes these and everything else, such as newsletters and promotional emails, etc. Contact list allows you to easily find and chat with your friend with just one tap.

How do I compose a new email?

Tap the "Compose" icon (with a square and a pencil) on the top right corner of the screen. Edit the subject, select your recipients, and click done to start the conversation. Or you can find your friend from the Contact list, tap his name, and click “Message” to start a new email conversation with him or her.

How do I edit the subject when composing a new email?

The default subject for each email is "Chat with [Your Name]." Tap to edit the subject.

How do I add a new recipient in an email?

When you swipe left from any email(or click the Three Dots icon on the top right corner), you'll see the "People" tab, which lists all of the recipients of that email. Click on anyone to change their recipient roles in the reply. For example, change "cc" to "bcc," or "remove from this email." To add a new recipient, tap the "+" button at the bottom.

If you want to send an email to someone who is not on the contact list, enter the new email address in the Recipients box right under the subject. Next, select their role in the email and click “Done” on the top right corner to continue. It's as easy as managing a group chat.

How to Add a new friend to the Contact List?

When you are in the Contact List page, you’ll see a small “Add Friend” icon on the top right corner, click that button, enter your friend’s name, email address or attach a photo to create a new contact. You can also Favorite a friend in the contact list to make him stay on top of the list by swiping left his name on the contact list or click the “Star” icon from his profile page.

How do I delete an email?

On the Inbox page, you can swipe left to Archive or Delete an email. On the email page, you can tap and hold any single conversation bubble to delete a particular email thread.

How to select multiple emails?

Long press the email list when you are in either “All Mails” or “Chats” page to enter the multiple select mode, after selecting all the emails, click Mark as read, Archive, or Delete buttons on the top. You can also undo all the operation right after you click the buttons.

What about attachments?

Attachments are visible on the bottom of the bubble and similarly accessible. Right above the keyboard, you’ll see buttons to add pictures, attachments, cloud drive links. Our iOS version now supports document picker which allows users to access any cloud drive that is compatible with iOS 7+ system. With the cloud drive app on your phone, you can click the “Cloud” icon on MailTime, and you will be able to access that and add any attachments from that drive.

How to Send GIFs in MailTime?

Type /giphy +[keyword], click send, and you will be sending a random GIF according to the keyword. More info about GIF please check here.

How do I manage the to-do lists?

Start sentences with the @ symbol, choose someone you want to mention and write a task after that, for example, "@charlie, remember to buy some stamps." After it's sent, you can swipe left and check the "Mentions" list to manage all the tasks mentioned in this email. You can also click the "All mentions" on the same page (or from the main menu) to review all the tasks within your inbox.

How do I invite friends to MailTime?

You can go your friend's profile by clicking their profile picture and then click 'invite', or invite them when you want to add more than two accounts (you will see a pop-up option for you to invite, so you can unlock more accounts quota on MailTime).

Does MailTime limit my email length?

Just like Twitter prevents you from writing more than 140 characters, MailTime alerts you if your message is too long (usually over 400 characters). You can still send them, but no guarantees that they'll be read!

How to send a voice message?

Record and send voice messages when you want to send something quickly without typing. When you click the voice icon, you will see a "Hold to Talk" button. Press to record your voice and release to send it.
